Kneeler Group

St Matthew's Kneeler Tapestry Sewing Group
Over the years many kneeler pads (over 135) have been donated and worked for St. Matthew’s Church for special occasions and in memory of loved ones, and are a constant reminder for their families when they attend Church.
Currently we have 2 kneelers being worked, one in memory of a former member of St. Matthew’s, and the other to commemorate the Anniversary of World War One. Existing kneelers which require attention are renovated.
Information is recorded about kneelers as far as possible and we do have some photographs.
The existing tapestry on the north east transept wall of the Church, near the pulpit, depicts various parts of the Parish and scenes of Parish Life through the years, and was made by previous and current members of the group, and dates from 1992.
New members and visitors are always welcome to see and share in what we are doing, or bring their own knitting, needlework or craft work. We also have colouring books or jig saws if you prefer, or just call in for a chat, a cup of tea and a biscuit.
Our aim is to provide a friendly, caring atmosphere within the Church community, while at the same time helping to enhance the Church in a practical way. We do try to keep in touch with former members wherever possible.
