An informal association of men of all ages within the Parish who meet 10 or 11 times each year in Christian fellowship.


 

On Thursday 28th January 2010,

                           we welcomed Canon David Felix, Vicar of Daresbury, who as a former Solicitor was well qualified to speak on 'The Importance of Church Law in the Christian Community'. David recounted several of is own experiences in this field and his talk, as predicted, developed into a lively question and answer session.  Refreshments followed in the warmth of the School Staff Room, including cakes made by the children, proceeds from their sale in aid of the Haiti Earthquake Appeal Fund. 

 

Thursday 25th February 2010 at 8:00 pm in  the Pewterspear Green Sports Pavilion

                       our very own Margaret Kent will be giving an illustrated talk on the 'Barons of Warrington'. The ladies will also be most welcome to this event, which will be held in the Cricket Pavilion.

Thursday 25th March 2010 at 8.00pm in the Pewterspear Green Sports Pavilion

 

                     Judith Brown from Darwen will, I am informed, deliver a fascinating presentation, entitled 'The World of Owls'.

 Judith will bring along three or four birds, feathered variety, and you will have the opportunity to hold a bird, take photographs..... you can use flash should you need too! The venue will again be the Sports Pavilion commencing at 8:00 pm; seating capacity thirty persons, including six places to be allocated to children in year six attending St Matthew's CE Primary School. There will be a small charge for admission to cover the speaker's travelling costs.

 

There will be a small charge for admission to offset the speaker's considerable travelling expenses i.e £2 each adult,  OR £3 each family unit.

There will be a raffle on the night, with one of the prizes being specifically earmarked for the children attending.

 

 

 

Thursday 15th April 2010 at 7:30pm

 

                    George Barnes has arranged a visit to the Altrincham Garrick to see the the play 'Whipping it up', a political satire. There are ten places available on a first come first served basis.  

 

Thursday 29th April 2010 at 8.00pm at the Pewterspear Green Sports Pavilion

 

                   Major Frank Blundell will be giving us an insight into the Salvation Army Service in Iraq.

 

Wednesday 26th May at 7:00pm,

                      will see the first of the Crown green bowling matches with Barnton Parish Church. Meet at St Matthew's car park at 6:30pm for car sharing.

 

Saturday 26th June 2010     

      

                      another canal boat trip- 10 berths available due to popular demand, is to be organized by George Barnes in liaison with Chris Taylor.

                      Final details shortly.

 

On a Saturday early in July 2010,

                      it is envisaged that there will be a trip to Llangollen, including a visit to the Steam Railway and the International Musical Eisteddfod.

 

There will be no meeting in August 2010.

 

Thursday 9th September The Annual Men's Service at 7:30pm in St Matthew's Church.

 

                        I am delighted to announce that Mark Watson, a founder member of Connections, will be our speaker

 

On Thursday, 16th September at 7:00pm

 

                       there will be a return Crown Green bowling match with Barnton Parish Church.  Meet in church car park at 6;30pm for car sharing.

 

Thursday 28th October 2010. Come and meet David Hamilton, a former member of the UDA and the UDF.  

 

                     Whilst serving the second of his prison sentences something overwhelmingly happened to him, he believed God divinely intervened. David believed he was called to change utterly and subsequently committed his life to God. That was 25 years ago, and today as a pastor in Stockport his story of redemption offers a lesson in the power of spiritual conversion to cleanse and transform. David's talk is entitled 'A Cause worth Living for'!

 

On Saturday 27th November 2010

 

                         we hope to join forces for the day with St James's Church Milnrow;  a short 40 minutes car journey to Milnrow then travel by coach to the city of York; an opportunity to visit the St Nicholas Christmas Market.  

 

Wednesday 8th December 2010 at 8:00pm. AGM and Christmas social

 

                         will take place at the Ring o' Bells Pub Lower Stretton in December.
